Episode 53: Understanding Throwing Injuries In Baseball With Frank Alexander
In this episode, we have Frank Alexander who is an athletic trainer at Columbia University Irving Medical Center where he has been a part of Dr. Chris Ahmad’s clinical team for the better part of a decade. As a part of Dr. Ahmad’s staff, Frank is responsible for coordinating the medical care of many elite athletes including the New York Yankees, the New York Boulders, collegiate, amateur, and high school athletes from all over. As a former collegiate baseball player, Frank’s primary focus in the office has been caring for baseball players. He has a special interest in injuries to the throwing shoulder and elbow, where much of his research is focused. Currently, he is leading the largest cohort study on UCL injuries, The MLB Pitch Registry, alongside Dr. Ahmad. To date, they have collected data on over 140 baseball players in 2 years of study.
